What is it about?
I have worked in schools for over fifteen years and understand that creativity is difficult to factor in amongst all the other school priorities. I offer a range of student centred, rigorous, yet fun after school art courses to help the creatively aspirational students to explore, develop and improve their art skills and creativity. I do all the hard work in this department, so you can focus on everything else. I would love to visit your school as I am incredibly passionate about keeping art education alive in the curriculum. I have a whole range of exciting ideas to help your students develop their technical and creative skills in a broad range of mediums and subject matter. This programme is focused on offering students specialist technical support, that they can continue to work on long after the programme. I am a huge advocate of developing a 'growth mindset' in young people, which is an ethos that runs through all my teaching. The courses are suggestions and can be completely adapted to suit your school or schemes of work.
How does it work?
Each course runs for however long your school term is, which will normally run for 1 hour after the school day (however, this can be adjusted to suit your school.)
Each course includes all materials/media of the highest quality and will take place in your school's art department (which will be left spotless). Please choose from one of the following courses or suggest your own and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions:
Painting with acrylic: understanding portraiture, facial proportions and layering techniques
Painting masterclass: working through many artists styles and paint mediums to develop a library of techniques.
Drawing through observation: technical and experimental
Still life: drawing media and acrylic
Bookbinding and recording: creating sketchbooks and recording the visual world
An introduction to watercolour: expressive and refined
Working like the impressionist: drawing media and acrylic
